Quick Home Made Ice Cream

23.9.12

Holy cow! (see what I did there? Cow? Dairy? Ice cream? Gosh, I'm a cracker.) This ice cream was so easy to make. So easy. And it tastes amazing, so creamy. Just wow. I found the original recipe on  http://www.kevinandamanda.com.

You'll need:
- 2 cups of >36% fat cream. The original recipe says "heavy cream", which took a bit of research to figure out what that meant, as it's an American site. However, I found that in Australia, "heavy cream" is just cream that is over 36% fat. I used Bulla Pure Cream, which is 45% milk fat and it had great results.
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk.
- Whatever you fancy adding to the ice cream! I chose caramel Tim Tams. Some ideas include doughnuts, Nutella, chopped strawberries, anything you like. It's like the ultimate Cold Rock - you can put whatever you want in!

First, you whip the cream until it forms stiff peaks. Be careful though, as with cream of such high fat content it's very easy to accidentally over-whip it into butter. So I used a low setting on my electric beaters until I got the consistency I wanted.

Next, prepare your additions. For me, I just chopped up the Tim Tams into small pieces.

Now, mix your additions into the condensed milk in a separate bowl to the cream. The rest is easy - just fold the condensed milk mix into the cream until it's well mixed, pour it all into a container and stick it into the freezer for 6 hours! Yeah! That's it!

So little effort, such amazing results! When I tried it, I melted. It tastes great, but the consistency is the highlight - it's just so amazingly creamy. So great. Thank you, http://www.kevinandamanda.com!
